What is alana beard?

Alana Beard is a retired professional basketball player who played in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was born on May 14, 1982 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Beard attended Duke University where she played for the Blue Devils women's basketball team. She had a successful college career and was named the ACC Player of the Year in 2004.

In the 2004 WNBA Draft, Beard was selected second overall by the Washington Mystics. She played for the Mystics for nine seasons before being traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in 2012. Beard played for the Sparks for seven seasons before retiring in 2019.

Throughout her WNBA career, Beard was known for her defensive prowess and was a four-time WNBA All-Star. She was also named the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and helped lead the Sparks to a WNBA Championship in 2016.

Off the court, Beard is known for her philanthropic efforts and community involvement. She continues to be involved in basketball through coaching and mentoring young players.
